A group of volunteer members started the organisation out of concern for the challenges in the community that required a lasting solution. Their first activities were mainly to plan and then mobilise community members to address the needs of the growing number of orphans due to HIV/AIDS in the late 80s and 90s. We are currently reconstructing Bukoggolwa secondary school which was destroyed by the hailstorm in 2011 to support the community. BWOCC has also initiated educational agricultural and health projects in Mpigi and Butambala districts. However, our members are increasingly in need of building their capacities in terms of skills and structures. BWOCC thanks Uganda National NGO Forum for the support in networking and capacity building.

Five committed community members started the organisation to address the problems of OVCs in our community. They wanted to support certain sectors like education, psychosocial support/ counselling, water and sanitation. They started by mapping the interest constituents; identifying interest groups (OVCs) and carrying out registration processes. Since the organisation was founded, there has been a change in community attitude towards OVCs. We have managed to set up organizational/ administrative structures and creating a web portal. The service delivery to OVCs has also improved. We are currently creating a platform to build a vocational school as we are already acquiring land. We have had continued support to OVCs. Some of our most important achievements so far include:
